Dave Treasure – Funeral Details

Date: 03 February 2021

The Club regrets to announce that Dave passed away on Tuesday 2 February 2020.

Dave was a larger than life character involved in many aspects of Rugby. He was a player at Fylde RUFC and for the Shireburn Gents before becoming a well known referee on the local circuit. He joined Preston Grasshoppers and went on the Cayman Island Tour in 1979 where he succeeded in getting his feet sunburned sleeping under a Palm Tree. Any other incidents from then remain on tour but more recently Dave was instrumental in getting the memorial turtle mounted in the Dooley Suite.

In more recent times he was a regular in the Wainwright Bar during the week and on match days. He will be sadly missed.

Our thoughts are with his wife Nancy and daughters Emma and Suzanne.

Dave’s funeral will be on Friday 19 February and details are at: https://www.dignityfunerals.co.uk/funeral-notices/03-02-2021-david-james-treasure/

In the current pandemic times attendance in the services will be limited and by invitation. The Club President and Chairman have been invited to represent the Hoppers.
