PGRFC is delighted to announce the winner of the “Senior Player of the Month” award for December. This award is given to a member of the 1st XV squad who has impressed on and off the field during that month and is chosen by the Coaching and Off Field Team.
The December winner is experienced scrum half James Gough (sponsored by Peter Carter) who pips Matt Crow, Dec Norrington and Matt Lamprey to the award.
Gough has settled into life at Lightfoot Green and his influence on the side has started to show. With over 250 career appearances under his belt before he joined Hoppers in the summer, there was always likely to be a getting-to-know-you period before Gough’s impact started to show.
Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said “James has enjoyed a strong December, and this culminated in him being named vice-captain for the game at Fylde. As the weather has closed in, the better James has played, and he is starting to bring his experience to the forefront. His presence in the dressing room and the team is now starting to show”.
