Disciplinary Committee hands out suspension

Date: 22 October 2012

At a meeting of the clubs Disciplinary Committee last night, the committee imposed a two week suspension on prop Oga Mabaya following his dismissal for two yellow cards in last weeks 2nd XV victory over Stockport. Having considered the referee’s report, the match DVD and taking the players version of events into account the committee felt that the two offences were at the “lower end” in terms of punishment to be given under the sanctioning guidance provided by the RFU. Mabaya will therefore be unavailable for selection for this weekend or next but will be available once more from the 28th October. The committee was headed by the clubs Disciplinary Chairman Robert Dobson and included Colin Whalley (Head of the Rugby Committee) and Gareth Dyer (Director of Rugby). The player was in attendance with the 2nd XV coach John Young.
