Date: 11 April 2016

1st XV Physiotherapist Mark Taylor, Club General Manager Richard Ellis, Chairman of Rugby Michael Bailey and Management Committee member John Chesworth have set out to each complete 3 triathlons this year and in doing so raise £500 to improve the emergency medical provision at Preston Grasshoppers.

The extract below is taken from a fundraising page that has been setup to allow people to donate if they so wish. The text was written by 1st XV Physio Mark Taylor who is pictured below having completed his first triathlon at Clitheroe on Sunday.

“We are always trying to improve the medical provision on offer at Preston Grasshoppers.

Getting these types of things in place can potentially save lives and reduce the chances of an injury having catastrophic consequences, but unfortunately they don’t come cheap.

Building on the generosity already shown by others I thought I would do my bit to try and get the best equipment possible to help players and spectators as needed.

The aim is to get:
– a ‘gold standard’ scoop/stretcher for use in spinal injuries
– medical gases to help in any medical emergency such as cardiac arrest, limb fractures or head injuries.

To help encourage you and to give you something to ‘sponsor’ I and some other club members are each doing three triathlons this year, something I have never done before.

If we manage to raise the required amount I propose that any additional money goes to the North West Air Ambulance an invaluable service which helps hugely with things such as rugby injuries, as well as helping my family in the past.

I thank you!”
