England U18 game a huge success

Date: 13 March 2017

A packed crowd of over 1500 people enjoyed watching England U18s beat Scotland 31-17 on the RFU’s AGP at Preston Grasshoppers on Sunday.

In what was their second match of the season, England followed up last weekend’s 43-14 win over France with a successive victory.

In tricky conditions, England led 12-7 at the break through tries from lock Joe Tunney and flanker Aaron Hinkley.

And further scorers from fly-half Tom Hardwick, centre Cameron Redpath and Tom Seabrook sealed the win over Scotland.

Hoppers’ General Manager Richard Ellis said:

”The event went really well from a logistics point of view and it was a great day all round. I was really pleased with the hard work of all the staff and the turn out of volunteers who ensured the day ran smoothly. The RFU and SRFU were full of praise for the club so we’ll hopefully see representative games at Hoppers again in the future.”

The club would like to thank Jason Dodding from Westholme School, who set the scene superbly with his singing of the anthems, as well as everyone who came to show their support and made it a very special day at Lightfoot Green.

The club also received a lovely testimonial from Tony Reed who enjoyed hospitality before the game:

”Thank you for entertaining us so well on the occasion of the U18 international. The lunch your staff provided was excellent and the resultant view from the balcony was ideal. Your creation of such a superb day for all the spectators did your club and many helpers a great deal of credit.”
