Alnwick vs. Preston Grasshoppers – 2nd April 2022, Kick Off 3pm
After not conceding a single point throughout March, Hoppers head into a new month with a trip to the North East to face far stiffer opposition in the last side to beat them.
This will be Preston Grasshoppers first ever visit to Alnwick and their Greenfields ground where not only will they be looking to avenge the defeat at Lightfoot Green, but extend their record breaking undefeated run on the road.
Jordan Dorrington and Toby Harrison’s tries saw them reach significant landmarks last Saturday, one hundred League points for Jordan and fifty for Toby. Congratulations to both of you!
Our hosts who began life in 1880 before re-formation in 1960, have played much of their league rugby at Level 6, apart from a couple of journeys down a level before gaining promotion at the end of the 2017/18 season into the Northern Premier League.
Their first season at this level saw them consolidate their position in the league but the 2019/20 season was more of a struggle and the adjusted tables once sorted after the end of the truncated season saw them finish less than two points above Carlisle to keep their place for this term where they sit comfortably above mid table.
The 1869 Club are running a coach to the game, departing the Clubhouse at 9pm with the usual fare and dining arrangements.
