Hoppers were well beaten by a strong Blackburn Cup as the Lancashire Cup defence faltered at the first hurdle.
A hat trick of tries for the hosts by Leon Simpson as well as further scores from Sammy Russell, Thomas Mayoh, Tom Burtonwood, Harry Pilkington, and Josh Jarrold proved too much for the youthful Hoppers side who managed tries through Kev Brown and Frasier Stanier.
The league campaign starts next week with a trip to Wharfedale.
