Date: 17 February 2015

Match report Hoppers Ladies v Manchester Ladies 8 February 2015

Hoppers’ ladies continued with their good run of form at the weekend with a visit from Manchester ladies who were placed one position above them in the league and winners of the last meeting earlier in the season.

Manchester started lively countering Hoppers’ early attacks and recycled the ball well to create potential scoring chances but good defensive and forward play, supported by strong running from the backs, saw Hoppers cross the line after 12 minutes with Jennie Pendlebury scoring the first of her 3 tries. A successful conversion gave Hoppers a 7-0 lead which was extended after 27 mins when Jennie scored another converted, try. Manchester struggled to contain Hoppers’ support game and a break in mid-field by Mie Maxwell-Smith left Emily Stirzaker with a relatively easy try. This was quickly followed by another break by Mie who off-loaded to Pippy for her to score under the posts taking the half-time score to 24-0.

Manchester started the second half determined to score but well timed try saving tackles and all round robust team work turned the game in Hoppers’ favour. A third and final try by Jennie after 70 minutes resulted in a well deserved and convincing win for Hoppers Ladies.

Final score 29-0.
