The Under 12s performed really well to finish 3rd overall in the Lancs Mini Festival Cup finals day held at Southport on Sunday.
Hoppers finished 2nd in their group, beating Sefton 10-0 and Sedgley Park 17-0 but losing to Wigan 0-14. In the semi-final against Warrington, who topped the other group, Hoppers lost narrowly 0-7, but had 2 tries disallowed (TMOs needed at every level these days!).
In the 3rd/4th place play off against Wigan Hoppers drew 14-14, but won a conversion ‘shoot out’ 4-2 to finish 3rd overall.
Warrington won the Under 12 trophy following a 0-0 draw in the final against Waterloo, Warrington having beaten Waterloo in the earlier group stages.
The 3rd place finish ensures that Hoppers will be one of the seeded teams in next years Blacksticks Blue (Lancashire) Junior Challenge Cup and avoid Warrington and Waterloo until at least the Quarter finals!
