Lancashire Cup Round 1 – 6th October 2013
Today’s Lancashire Cup first round fixture saw us line up in a home fixture against Didsbury Toc H. Despite a growing injury list a strong squad was available for this tie. Didsbury themselves had suffered some last minute injuries and withdrawals meaning they only had 14 fit players but they showed their class and commitment by traveling to Preston to contest this fixture.
Didsbury competed well and kept the Hoppers side honest but by half time with the score line ticking over well in Hoppers favour, it looked like the game was well on the way to being won, second half changes allowed all the boys to have a run out today.
Hoppers continued to press forward with the change of personnel and a final flourish try and conversion by Birthday Boy Matt Sturgess finished the cup contest. Play recommenced with a training game which saw 2 Hoppers boys joining the Didsbury ranks. Well done to all the boys and a big thank you to all the supporters
