Under 11s Grand Day out at Vale

Date: 15 April 2015

A ‘Grand Day Out’……nearly!

As usual the weather at Vale for thier Festival was #wet, #windy and #cold.  The newly acquired tent stood the initial onslaught of the weather – being the last one standing means we won something.

The Hoppers first game was against a spirited Ormskirk side. A good 4-0 victory under our belts put the lads in rugby mode. Stockport next and a great 1-0 victory was notched up.  After some rescheduling we were up against a very well balanced Penrith side that to their credit played an awesome game, a 2-0 defeat ensured that we progressed to the Plate stages.

First up were the hosts, the atmosphere was tense throughout the game, finishing 1-1. Golden try time!  Hoppers came out victorious with a 2-1 victory.  By the reactions of all the squad, coaches and parents you would have thought that we had just won the world cup!  This meant we had to play a strong Sefton side in the final.  A 4-1 defeat sealed our fate.  In all the games the lads stepped up and played some great rugby.  Powerful defence breaking runs followed by great skilful passing and tackling.  Notably the pressure game caused the other teams a host of problems.  All players were a credit to Hoppers and worked extremely hard as a team to ensure a great tournament.

Coaches Gary, Neville and Mick congratulate you all an a great performance.
