Under 7s brave wet Vale

Date: 30 March 2015

Today Dillon, Ethan, Henry, Lewis, Oliver S and Zane represented Hoppers U7 at the Vale of Lune tournament. We didn’t come back with any silverware but I can safely say the boys did a great job and did our U7 group proud.

We got off to a tricky start playing a well organised and fast team from Lymm. Sadly we were beaten but we had some new rules to interpret and were unlucky to have a couple of tries disallowed (this would later make a big difference to our day).

A draw against Penrith and win against Altringham followed setting us up for a big finish against Rochdale.

The boys knew that they needed a win to be in with a chance of going forward to the final. Not only was it a win but it was a big win with some great team tries and tackling. This was made all the more impressive given that it was very cold and had been raining since we had got there over 3 hours earlier.

Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough. With the same points and same score  difference Rochdale went through ahead of is because they had scored one more try over their 4 matches (even though we beat them!).

I’m pleased to say the boys took it well and it was big smiles and laughing as we finally managed to get into the warm and dry.

Great effort to everyone involved (lads and Dads). We’ll take the experience forward to the next event and next time we’ll have more Hoppers with us and I’m sure it will make the difference.

Well done.
