Under 7s travel to Southport

Date: 14 April 2015

The under 7 team put out a strong squad on a blustery day at Southport this week.  Coming off the back of the Easter Holidays it was great to see 20 players from the squad turn up ready and eager to play.  Southport couldn’t match our numbers but we managed to run three games despite the challenge of keeping all the non-players occupied!

The games themselves were fairly close affairs but on balance Hoppers edged it.  More important than the results were the clear signs of progress that the whole squad has made this year.  They played as a team, had lots of fun, tagged well, were organised in defence and scored some great team and solo tries.  The Southport coach couldn’t have spoken more highly of them when he said they were a credit to our club.

One more home fixture for the year before the Hoppers Festival and End of Season Tour where we hope for more of the same.

Thanks again to the players, parents, supporters and coaches for such a strong presence and performance.
