Flynn’s complete marathon challenge

Date: 17 August 2015

Saturday evening saw 1st XV legend Russel Flynn and his wife Sarah complete their charity run which has seen them run 10 marathons in 5 days.

They set out on the challenge to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust with a target of £1,250 which they have now surpassed. Donations can still be made at the address at the bottom of the page.

When we caught up with the Flynn’s they were very grateful for all the support they have received, saying “Our final day of pounding the pavements saw us travel through Preston, Kirkham and Blackpool. It was lovely to be accompanied along the way by Russell’s sister, Melissa and Joanne Steel. The sun was shining as we made our final steps on to the comedy carpet outside Blackpool Tower and we were greeted by friends and family to cheer us in! The five-day challenge has tested us both physically and at low moments we were spurred on by all the generous donations and well wishes from friends and family alike. We have been overwhelmed by the money raised for Teenage Cancer Trust so far – our total is currently at £1517.58 with sponsorship money still coming in. Thank you so much for helping to make a difference to lives of teenagers across the country. It is safe to say that our trainers will now be rested for a couple of weeks before we think about pounding the streets of Preston once again!”
