Why is Freshfield keen to sponsor a Preston Grasshoppers 1st XV game?
Simon Turner, (Managing Director) and Mike Gregory (Director) have often been guests at sponsored matches and have found them to be a great day out. The informal atmosphere, good food and company is always a recipe for success. This Saturday’s game is a chance to say thanks to Freshfield’s clients and contacts for their business and support and sponsoring a 1XV game at the club is a great way of doing so.
What connections do Freshfield have to Preston Grasshoppers?
Freshfield has supported PGRFC through a number of ways, from advertising at the ground, advising our clients to use the venue / function rooms or support the club with PR and design services. One example was promoting the arrival of Sean Long which Freshfield helped to secure widespread press coverage.
Another connection is through Mike Gregory who is a Director at Freshfield, A recent convert to the game, Mike started playing rugby on his 38th birthday, which was prompted by his son’s endeavours on the pitch and encouragement by many former 1XV team players. He now regularly turns out for the 6XV, switching from the wing to front row…not always a logical progression… and has made ‘guest’ appearances in the 5XV and 4XV. He also played for Mike Bailey’s all star team in Graham Cox’s testimonial match, which Mike B has some very funny stories about Mike G’s performance in that game….

What would you say to other companies who might be interested in sponsoring a Hoppers 1st XV game?
From being guests at a sponsored game we have always had a fantastic day out and it’s a great way to round off a busy week. More than ever before companies are scrutinising their marketing spend with hospitality being put under the microscope. Hoppers provides real value for money and we highly recommend it.
Finally, what is your prediction for Saturday’s game?
We hope to see an end to end match, providing our guests with an exciting game but with Hoppers winning by a mile….Come on Hops!!!
