With no 1st XV fixture this weekend the 2nd XV take top billing with a top of the table clash at Sedgley Park. The lads would really appreciate your support if you’re able to travel to the game. Kick off is at 2.15PM, post code M45 7DZ.
The 2nd team are enjoying a fantastic season and sit top of Premiership Conference A, the highest level they can compete at. They also face Sandbach in the Semi-Final of the Cup on Saturday 14th March with the Vice-President’s Lunch taking place beforehand, more details here.
Sedgley Park currently sit in second place in the table and this should be a very close fixture. 2nd XV manager Ade Jebb said “Since the fixtures were released at the turn of the year this one has loomed large on the horizon. Given that the two sides sit at the summit of Conference A the fixture has the potential to be season defining.”
He added “In recent seasons Hoppers have had the upper hand in the games between the two sides. The victory that we secured in January shall be remembered as one of our best performances in recent years. There is an intense rivalry between the squads at this level as they’re generally in the mix for honours. The Tigers are the defending champions as have a great record since joining the league. They are notoriously hard to beat so we’ll have to be well and truly up for the challenge. History suggests that Saturday’s game will be entertaining and feisty”.
