Grasshoppers invading the USA

Date: 21 May 2012

When sports mad Kansas business man, Richard Lund, found himself with free time at the end of recent business trip, his English colleagues had no doubt about what he should do. Try out the renowned pre-match Hoppers Hospitality he was told and that’s how he ended up as guest of Tim Jones in a group from BAe systems at the final game of the season against Loughborough Students. Having dined on Hoppers chef Allan’s superb Lamb Shank and indulged in our fine range of bar products Richard then took in his first ever rugby match and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Post match, he bought souvenir replica shirts for his two sons back home.

Richard was kind enough to email us from Kansas. He wrote

“Just a note of thanks for the hospitality that you, your staff and the winning players provided a first time rugby viewing Yank! The shirts are a huge hit with the boys, everyone is asking what/where the hell are The Grasshoppers?

Here is a photo of my two sons in their Hoppers gear. On the left is Chris. He has just finished his junior year at Arizona State University, majoring in Computer Science Engineering. He gained extremely good grades and is looking for an internship. The lad on the right is my younger son, Spencer. He is about to finish his junior year in high school. He is looking at a college/university that has a top notch video production curriculum. ”

Richard is keen for his sons to experience the world and if anyone can help his sons with placements please get in touch with the office and we can send the information on.

“The entire afternoon was the highlight of my visit to the UK. I have told Tim Jones that I may have to come back next year to experience my 2nd rugby match.

Please feel free to let me know if there is anything I can do for you or the great people of the Grasshopper Nation”
