When Australian international Cameron Shepherd had to pull out of Sale Sharks’ starting lineup against Saracens in the LV Cup Semi-Final Preston Grasshoppers’ youngster Michael Haley was called in to start at full back.
Michael is dual registered with both Sale and ‘Hoppers and has featured for both sides throughout the season.

Haley, who was on the bench for ‘Hoppers 1st XV just last week, put in a good performance which saw him play the full 80 minutes. Sale ran out 21-15 winners which means they will contest the final at Twickenham.
Two other former ‘Hoppers also featured for Sale with winger Tom Brady starting the game and scrum-half Nathan Fowles coming off the bench to score the winning try.
Well done to Sale Sharks on their win but an even bigger well done to Michael for making his first Sale start. Hopefully it will be the first of many!
