Hopfest 2017 a huge success

Date: 11 July 2017

Around 2000 people enjoyed a fantastic weekend of drinks, entertainment and sunshine at Hopfest 2017, with the event proving to be a big hit with members and the public alike.

The popular Hoppers Business Network ‘Friday afternoon session’ kicked the event off and was well attended as always by Preston’s business community. What better way to network than to replace the coffee and biscuits with beer, gin and Allan’s food!

A large crowd then started to arrive on Friday evening to sample the wide variety of beverages and watch the Templebys kick the weekend’s music off, who were followed funksters Atomic Brass and then a Motown disco late into the evening.

Saturday started bright and early with the club packed out to watch the Lions claim a dramatic 15 all draw with New Zealand, before Hopfest opened it’s doors once again to a large crowd and glorious sunshine.

Touch rugby, more great music and copious amounts of beer, cider, gin and prosecco were enjoyed throughout the day in the sun, and the party continued well into the night, no doubt resulting in some bad heads the following morning!

General Manager Richard Ellis said:

‘It’s fantastic to see how far Hopfest has come in just 3 years. The club was packed on both Friday and Saturday and the feedback from everyone has been extremely positive. It’s exciting to think about the future of the event and how we can make it even bigger and better in the years to come. I’d like to thank all of the staff, volunteers, bands and sponsors who made the event possible, and all of the people who came down and made it such a great event.’

The event also received plenty of positive feedback online:

‘A brillant family day and all the different beers/ciders were spot on.’ Majorie

‘A great fun day out for all the family. Fancy dress touch rugby, music, food and drink – what could be better!’ Michael

‘Excellent Friday night entertainment. Warm, friendly atmosphere and a massive range of refreshments.’ Martin
