Hoppers 2nd XV preview and squad news

Date: 03 November 2011

2nds Travel to Stockport

In what has been a momentous week for the club the second team travel to unbeaten Stockport for what will be their toughest fixture so far. Lightfoot Lane has been buzzing with the news of Sean Long’s signing but the coaches have been at pains to emphasise the importance of this week’s fixtures.

Thanks are extended to Stockport who have graciously agreed to a 1.30pm kick off. This will allow a number of players to return to Lightfoot Lane in time to assist with the annual bonfire and fireworks display.

Hoppers are again forced into changes as Alan Holmes and Rich Morton have work commitments. Phil Mills and Liam Launders are persuing representative honours with their college whilst Matt Conway and Harry Reddick are away for the weekend. Cameron Berry still hasn’t recovered from injury but hopes to be back for the big clash with Sedgley Tigers.

Charles Hostier, Jonny Mahon, Doug Grimes and his brother Tom all return to the squad. The latter, a talented centre or full-back has secured a scholarship at Northumbria University and is welcomed back to the fold. The bench sees a first appearance for centre Jack Ward who has travelled down the M55 from Fylde having decided to return to the club he served as a youngster.

Meet time is 11.30 at Hoppers, or 12.30 for those travelling direct to Stockport.
