Hoppers 2s Look for another victory

Date: 20 January 2017

Last week saw the Hoppers 2 lads gain a very impressive victory over a very determined Chester RUFC.

Chester had the chance to take the lead in the 21st minute from a penalty in which the fly half landed it just short. Chester were asking all the questions in the first 30 minutes, but a resolute Hoppers team showed great character and strength to keep them at bay.

On 35 minutes Hoppers decided enough was enough and sparked the game in to life with a full length team try. Harry Swarbrick broke free and good interplay between Searle and Tayes found the ball back in Swarbricks hands to finish off what he had started. Corey Logan then got on the score sheet after patient forward build up, Searle converting to make the score 12-0 at half time. The second half saw Hoppers score 4 more tries through Alex Taylorson. Mark Murray and two Connor trueman tries. Even with a short sharp Chester response, Hoppers were victorious with a comfortable 43-7 win. MoM went to number 7 Matt Frings.

Looking forward to this week’s trip to Caldy, if its anything like the last time we went we are in for a nail biting fixture. In the front row, club captain John Peterson is looking to continue building to full fitness and partners Ryan Wilkinson and Jacob Shepard. In the row, Anthony Dennison partners Joe Hunt, and in the back row, Luke Proctor, Dom Aspinal and Corey Logan will be aiming to set a platform of go forward ball. Michael Searle continues to knock on the 1s door at scrum half as does the drop goal specialist Will Hunt at ten. In the centres, Alex Taylorson and Ollie Yates will be causing all sorts of problems in midfield and ably supported by the young flyers Ryhs Llewellyn and Adam Woosey. Matt Gargett steadies the ship from fullback. On the bench, Harry Swarbrick and Will French aim to have make an impact when they come on to the fray.
