Hoppers 2s travel to Sedgley Park

Date: 06 January 2017

This Saturday, Hoppers 2s travel to Sedgley Park to play their first game of the newly formed Conference A league.

Both teams have had a decent start to the season, securing conference A status, and have put in some good performances along the way.  Sedgley’s only loss at home so far this season came at the hands of Hopppers 2s in a nail biting 22-25 defeat, and they will no doubt be looking to avenge that result, as long as their pitch isn’t frozen!

Hoppers name a strong squad for the trip and are excited about the new recruits that have recently joined from Myerscough College.  A blend of experience and young eager work horses will be a good combination and provide a tough challenge for Sedgely.

In the front row, Ryan Wilkinson returns to the squad and partners the ever present Tyler Sloane.  Joshua Gow starts the game at hooker and in the row skipper Jonathon Wilson partners the exciting North of England trialist Joe Hunt.  The back row see’s Lancs 18s skipper Connor Johnson make his debut, alongside the experienced Jack Edwards who is is knocking on the 1st team door after recent performances, and the bulldozing Corey Logan is at 8.

The backs see Andy Hulme fitting a game in before he returns to Loughborough Uni.  At flyhalf Will Hunt looks to control the game as one of the more experienced players of the squad.  In the centres there is a combination of power and pace with Oliver Yates starting at 12 and Harry Swarbrick starting at 13.  On the wings, Myerscough pairing Rhys Llewellyn and Adam Woosey look to show their speed and ferocity whilst steadying the ship at fullback is Mark Murray who has returned after a recent hand injury.  On the bench, Anthony Dennsion covers second row, Will French covers the back row and Ben Leaver covers the back line.

Good luck fellas.

Details for players – 11.45 meet at the club or 12.30 meet at Sedgley park.
