Hoppers 2s v Lymm 2s Match Preview

Date: 18 November 2016

After a disappointing week last week, Hoppers 2s are looking to bounce back as they entertain Lymm 2s at home. Last weeks 36-0 loss at league leaders Macclesfield wasn’t a fair reflection of the game, and in particular the team performance. 10-0 down with eight minutes to go was a deserved scoreline. However, some lack of concentration and some dubious referee decisions ensured a comprehensive win for Macc. Looking forward to this week’s fixture and Lymm lie in 9th place in the league with 3 wins from 10 games. Even though they are on a 3 game losing streak, they have put in some creditable performances and lost a close fought fixture at home to Caldy last weekend.

Hoppers name a strong squad for the match. In the front row, Tyler Sloane continues to impress and starts alongside the returning and dare i say, experienced, John Young. At hooker, Beattie gets the nod over Harry Holden who drops to the bench. In the engine room, pack leader Johnty partners the young and energetic Dom Aspinall. The back row see’s some real quality with Matt Frings starting at six, inform Jack Edwards continues at seven and is also continuing to knock on the first team door. Sam Gale returns from injury and will be aiming to carry a lot of ball from eight.

In the backs, Hulme takes the nine shirt and Harry Swarbrick continues his development at fly half. In the centres, Olly Yates and Anthony Elliott look to add some pace and power to the centres and are ably backed up on the wings by young Ollie Kitchen and the return Flying Fijian Falemaka. Controlling the game from the rear is Jake Ellwood who once again returns from the capital to take part.
