Hoppers Cricket Back To Winning Ways

Date: 10 August 2012

In the penultimate game of the season, Hoppers recorded their 6th win of the campaign with a win at Lightfoot Green over neighbours Fulwood & Broughton. In their 15 overs, Fulwood posted 85-8 against some tight bowling from particularly Desmond Harry and Marc Balshaw. Hoppers’ openers Ali Murray and Adam Hollitt started well and kept their side well over the required rate. With 5 overs left and just two wickets down, the scores were tied and a Hoppers victory seemed a formality. But drama followed as Hoppers managed to lose three wickets for no runs over the next three overs and it was left to Balshaw to hit an extravagant 6 over long on to secure victory.

Hoppers 91-5 (A Murray 26 ret, A Hollitt 18 , A Pepa 1-0-6-2)

F & B  85-8 (P Nelson 25 ret, K Wilkinson 17, D Harry 3-0-21-3, M Balshaw 3-1-6-2)

Men of the Match: Hoppers D Harry, F & B P Nelson

Hoppers stay 6th but could go up a notch if they beat Whittingham at Lightfoot Green in the concluding game of the season next Wednesday.

Change at the top of the table where Grimsargh go top. After their win over Hoppers last week when all other games were called off and a comfortable win over Whittingham last night, contenders Longridge’s loss at home to Barton Grange means that they go three points clear. Meanwhile, PNE got only their third win of the season.
