In the only game to escape the weather on the last week of the season, Hoppers failed to sign off with a win. In fact the occasion put them in party mood, all eleven players turning their arms over and visitors Whittingham & Goosnargh, despite being two men short – one batted twice, took advantage of some very friendly bowling and a healthy total of 22 extras (2nd highest scorer), to post 114 – 6 off 15. They then refused to join in the end-of-season frivolities and, although Ally Murray and Adam Hollitt retired, an unnecessary run out (Ade Jebb going well on season’s best 9!) and some tight aggressive bowling at the end saw Hoppers fall 8 short on 106-4.
Hoppers 106-4 (A Murray 26 ret, A Hollitt 25 ret, G Steel 17, Atif 3-0-6-2)
Whittingham & Goosnargh 114-6 (Kashif 25 ret, Z Ahmed 21, A Clement 19, D Harry 2-0-13-20)
Men of the Match: Hoppers – A Jebb, W & G – Atif
