Hoppers head for Blaydon

Date: 02 December 2022

Hoppers travel to Blaydon tomorrow afternoon for a National 2 North fixture which already looks like a key game for both sides.

Blaydon have picked up just the one victory so far with Hoppers only managing two. Due to a points deduction Blaydon sit bottom of the league with just 3 points. Hoppers sit 9 points and 3 places higher.

Looking ahead to the fixture Assistant Coach Dan Orwin commented “Collectively, we felt that last Saturday’s performance against Hull Ionians was very positive. We managed to impose style of play on them and we pushed them hard right until the final whistle.

On Saturday we travel up to Blaydon. We know that we have to get our processes right for the full 80 minutes. We’ve learned the hard way this season that individual and collective lapses in concentration are punished at this level.

We’ve had a good training week and we’ll be looking to play with tempo in attack, move the ball and take our chances when they arise. Our scrum has been dominant for the most part of the season, so hopefully we can capitalise here too.

Congratulations to Izaak Gosling on his well-deserved call-up. He’s a product of the hoppers M-J system and has put in some brilliant performances for the 2nd XV this season.”
