Hoppers Players to Support Local Charity Be Brave Bears

Date: 21 November 2017

As we approach Christmas time, attention naturally turns to the season of goodwill and of course spending time with our loved ones. It is of course an exciting time for children with an impending visit from Father Christmas.

With that in mind, the Hoppers players from across all teams in the Senior Club will be raising and donating funds to a local Preston charity called Be Brave Bears (www.bebravebears.co.uk).

Be Brave Bears is a charitable organisation run by volunteers who send personalised keepsake teddy bears to children who are terminally ill or have life limiting conditions.

Each bear is sponsored by a business, group or family ensuring that the bears are given free of charge* to the children.

Once complete each bear is placed in a special keepsake bag and given to the child complete with a numbered certificate.

Each bear costs £30 and the players at the club hope to be able to donate funds to purchase several bears for children supported by the Charity. There is a waiting list of children waiting for a bear and the coaches and players across the club hope to provide enough funds to reduce the wait.

The Senior Squad will be donating their own funds and some of their “fine kitty” raised from minor “misdemeanours” during the season to date.

Head Coach Paul Arnold said “This is a charity close to my heart and if we could raise a few pounds it will really make a difference to children this Christmas. We have a superb band of supporters and sponsors and I would really encourage people to donate to this fantastic local charity”.

To donate to this fantastic cause please visit the website where you can simply donate funds through the site.
