Hoppers Rollers Tour de Trough

Date: 08 November 2012

The morning of Saturday 20th October saw ‘Hoppers Rollers’ cyclsits host the ‘Tour de Trough’ which started and finished at the club whilst taking in the Trough of Bowland. The cyclists then enjoyed lunch before the 1st XV fixture against Huddersfield.

Over 40 took part in the day which included a ‘King of the Mountains’ and a ‘Sprint Challenge’ both of which were timed using the Strava app. Martin Bretherton was crowned as sprint champion and a rather controversial King of the Mountains was awarded to Ben Murphy as Dave Fishwick hadn’t stayed for dinner although further investigation shows that it should perhaps have been awarded to Tim Clarke!

The ‘Hoppers Rollers’ are hoping to host another day out in the Spring which will be announced in due course. Thank you to all who took part and a special mention to Richard Ellis for organising the day and to Broadgate Cycles for donating the prizes and energy drinks. Hoppers club members get 10% discount off marked prices on production of their membership card as part of the Members Benefits Scheme.

Below are some photos taken by Spadey who should also be thanked for giving his time to drive the support vehicle.
