Hoppers Juniors well represented in County squads

Date: 11 January 2018

Hoppers are well represented in both Lancashire Junior squads for the upcoming Under 15 and Under 16 county programmes.

The Under 16s have 6 players in the squad that will field A and B teams against local county rivals Cheshire and Yorkshire;  Max Gardiner (2nd row), Lincoln Pope (utility forward), Ballie Leatham (prop), Tom Walker (Fly half) and Jak Kyriakou (centre).

Tom and Jak will be receiving their Knee High to a Grasshopper awards this year having been at Hoppers for 10 years.  Lincoln is the younger brother of Sale Sharks Jake Pope who also came through the Hoppers Junior ranks.

The Under 16s A and B games against Cheshire are on 21st January with the Yorkshire games on 4th February.

The Under 15s have 5 players in the Lancashire squad:  Alex Carson (centre), Kieran Todd (prop), Luca Sempers (wing), Conor Shelliker (prop) and George Melling (centre). Alex has also made the Sale Sharks Development Group.

The Under 15s have a warm up game against Staffordshire on 7th February with A and B team games against Yorkshire on 11th March and Cheshire on 25th March.

The Junior players are continuing a fantastic trend this season with 6 Hoppers in the current Lancashire Under 20s squad (Jack Granby, Ewan Naylor, Jack Edwards, Sam Stott, Will Hunt and Jacob Browne), 3 in the Under 18s (Tom Walter, Charlie Cadley and Harry Wood) with the Under 17s selection process about to start.

Good luck to all our Under 15s and 16s for the coming weeks!
