Hoppers Add Returning Jordan to Squad

PGRFC are delighted to announce the re-signing of try scoring winger/full back Scott Jordan for a second spell at Lightfoot Green.

Jordan 25, returns to Hoppers after a spell at Wharfedale and made a try scoring appearance on the AGP for Dale in the last game of last season. In his previous spell at Lightfoot Green, he made 38 appearances scoring 15 tries.

In his career to date he has appeared for West Hartlepool, Westoe, Wharfedale and Hoppers as well as gaining county recognition for Durham. He has made 123 league appearances scoring 55 tries.

Speaking on his return to Hoppers, Scott said “I am really pleased to be returning to Hoppers and looking forward to the season. The squad that’s been put together by Paul Arnold and the coaching team has great potential and if we can harness that then hopefully we can bounce back to National Two at the end of the season. The club is a good fit for me and I am thankful to all at Wharfedale for allowing me to return to Lightfoot Green”.

Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said “We are delighted to welcome Scott back to Hoppers. He’s a feisty competitor and a proven try scorer. He’s experienced and importantly knows the club so can hit the ground running. He will add to our leadership group and will further increase the options at the coach’s disposal as he can play in more than one position. Competition is the backs is going to be intense but importantly we have some real depth building behind the scrum too for what is a long season”.

PGRFC would like to thank Wharfedale RUFC for their handling of the transfer of Scott’s registration.

Welcome back Scott!!

Playing Departures

Whilst the focus has been on new players coming into Lightfoot Green for the new season, there have also been some departures from last season’s squad. Earlier in the summer we announced that Christian Taylor (Sale FC) and Ryan Glynn (Bristol RFC) had left the club at the end of their contracts whilst Rhodri Mayor’s loan spell had ended after the final game of last season.

In addition, we confirm that Corey Logan who came into the side at the end of last season has joined Blackburn, back rower Will Lees has joined Sedgley Park and Lewis Allen has joined Rossendale RUFC.

Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said on the departures “I would like to thank those who have moved on from Lightfoot Green for their efforts whilst at the club. Lewis and Will have been regular’s in the 1st XV in recent seasons and we understand their reasons for making the moves they have. They go with our best wishes”.

Back rower Rob Bramhall is also joining Blackburn RUFC on a season long loan but there is a recall clause in the agreement. “We have a large squad of players for the upcoming campaign and we were aware of Blackburn’s interest in Rob as they were looking to strengthen their back-row options. Rob was keen to take up the opportunity and we have agreed to a loan arrangement”.
