Juniors into Semi-finals

Date: 03 March 2014

3 Junior teams were in quarter final action this weekend:

The Under 13’s had a good win against Heaton Moor in the quarter final of the Lancashire Plate, a hard fought game with Hoppers scoring 3 tries through Dan Clare, Kian McKay and Will Howard. A good defensive display made sure it was a comfortable win in the end.

The Under 14s beat Eccles 27-10 in a fiercely competitive Lancashire Cup quarter final, both teams playing great rugby with Hoppers backs having the edge. One downside for Hoppers was Sam Minten breaking his leg, best wishes to Sam for a full recovery.

The Under 15s travelled to Fylde for their Cup quarter final. Hoppers had to weather a storm from a determined and focused Fylde and were punished for a couple of early errors going 14 points down and running the risk of overplaying to chase the game. Nerves were settled with 2 tries before the break leaving the score 14-10. After the break committed and organised forward play set a platform for a team performance that dominated and was rewarded with with a 14-27 away win and a place in the semi final. A wonderful day for the players, coaches and parents.

The Under 16s Lancashire Cup quarter final match against Liverpool Collegiate was re-scheduled and will now be played next Sunday.
