Kevin Commits to Hoppers

Date: 09 August 2022

PGRFC is delighted to announce that former Warrington Wolves Academy player Kevin Brown has committed himself to Hoppers for the upcoming season.

An accomplished 7’s player who has represented a number of prestigious teams in the Ultimate Rugby Sevens pathway, Kevin originally came to Hoppers last summer only for work commitments and injury to prevent him from fulfilling the season. Now back working in the Preston area, Kevin has been keen to impress in pre-season. Comfortable in a range of positions in the outside back positions, he will provide increasing competition for places.

Assistant Coach Dan Orwin said “We have been impressed with Kevin since he came into pre-season and clearly has a good skillset that has been honed on the 7’s circuit. He offers something different to other members of the back division and the challenge is there for him to nail down a starting shirt, as is the challenge for all our players. Clearly we have a number of pre-season games lined up which will give everyone an opportunity to lay down a marker to the coaching team as we build towards the start of the league campaign.”

Also recommitting himself to the club is the experienced Matt Crow. Matt joined Hoppers from Chester in 2018 and has made a number of appearances in the centre and wing over that period. After a number of injuries hampered his season last year, he took time out to refresh and now returns eager to resume a starting place in the 1st XV.

Another player who has also re-joined the squad is prop Ryan Purcell. Ryan was forced to take a break from the game but is now been given the green light to resume and returns to the squad looking to make up for lost time after a highly impressive first couple of seasons with the club under former coach Paul Arnold.

The squad is now up to some 40 senior players with a number of Hoppers Colts and trialists also featuring in pre-season. Welcome back Crowy and Ry!
