Lancashire Minis Festival Cup

Date: 10 April 2013

Hoppers Under 11s and Under 12s took part in the Finals day of the Lancs Minis Festival cup held at Leigh on Sunday, both sides qualified for Finals day after a weather interupted qualifying campaign.

The Under 11s lost their opening pool game but recovered to post two wins and qualify for the semi-final as pool runners-up to face Warrington who won the other pool. Warrington proved too good for Hoppers and went on to lift the trophy beating Waterloo in the Final. Hoppers finished the day strongly beating Sefton in the 3rd place play off match.

The Under 12s also finished 3rd despite being unbeaten in all 5 matches. Hoppers won their pool with 2 wins and a draw to qualify for the semi-final. In the semi-final, they drew with Warrington 7-7 but lost in a drop kick competition, in the 3rd place play off they also drew with Waterloo for the second time in the day to share 3rd place. Fylde went on to beat Warrington in the Final.

A great effort by both Hoppers teams, the Under 11s will have another crack at the Festival Cup next year, while the Under 12s can look forward to taking part in the Blacksticks Blue Junior Challange Cup as third seeds next year.
