A tense and close Roses derby saw Lancashire edge Yorkshire 29-23 thanks to a late Warren Spragg try.
Lancashire know that a positive result against Cheshire next weekend will see them return to Twickenham to defend the County Championship which they won against Cornwall last season.
Preston Grasshoppers were represented by Sean Taylor, Peter Altham and Phil Baines with Altham claiming one of four tries for Lancashire.
