Lancashire Cup – Blackburn vs. Preston Grasshoppers – 16th April 2022, K.O. 3:00pm
Preston Grasshoppers take a break from League action for an Easter Saturday Lancashire Cup Semi Final when they travel the short distance to the Ramsgreave Road ground of Blackburn RUFC.
Another close game is on the cards if the two previous meetings this season are anything to go by and with Blackburn being the current holders of the trophy, they’ll be fighting hard to keep the prospect of retaining it a possibility.
Blackburn reached this stage with the defeat of Vale of Lune at the beginning of the season while Hoppers gained a Walk-Over from Warrington.
The other Semi Final will see Widnes face Rochdale on the 7th of May, the tie being delayed because of re-arranged League games. A date for the final is yet to be agreed.
Lancashire Cup matches between the two aren’t uncommon, with the most recent being at the start of the truncated 2019/20 season at Lightfoot Green which went Hoppers way. The two played prior to that were both at Blackburn with each gaining a victory 2000/1 and 2003/4.
