Preston Grasshoppers RFC is pleased to announce that is has secured the signature of England Counties Under 18’s captain John Mackenzie for the coming season.
John has come through the ranks at Preston Grasshoppers after starting in the Under 7’s. Having played some 2nd XV rugby last season, he will hope to put himself in the frame for 1st XV action this year.

Mackenzie, who plays Lock or Number 8, has opted to take a gap year before heading to University and commented “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to play at a great standard of rugby with a top group of players. I can’t wait to get into the season.”
Despite being 18, John already stands at 6′ 5” and should bring some extra size to the Hoppers pack as well as offering a different dimension in the lineout.
John is just the latest of a number of new signings who have signed with Hoppers for the 2015-16 season. We’ll be bringing you news on the others in the next few weeks.
