Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 10 November 2016

The Minis entertained local rivals Vale of Lune this weekend with most of our Junior teams in Lancashire cup action again.

The Under 7s had a great time playing Tag on Sunday against Vale of Lune. Lots of super skills on show with great support for both sides.

At Under 8s, Vale brought 2 teams to Hoppers, who had 3 teams of their own. After a brisk warm-up Hoppers were eager to start showing determination in attack. Hoppers defensive approach needed some improvement and with feedback from the coaches at half time, the players soon put their training into practice and showed great improvement. Lots of good straight running with support lead to some impressive tries.

The Under 12s had their first taste of action in the Lancs Waterfall competition hosting Tarleton and Southport. Hoppers drew 10-10 with Tarleton and beat Southport 15-5 for a good start in the qualifying competition.

The Under 14s won a reasonably tight encounter away at Rochdale. Hoppers attack was always very potent but there is work to do in terms of ball retention and defence.

The Under 15s suffered a home loss 19-38 to Orrell in round three of the Lancs cup pool games.

The Under 16s had a comfortable win 39-7 away at Ormskirk in the Lancs cup, this was a solid display with tries shared between forwards and backs. Hoppers were 15-0 up at the break and never really looked in any danger.
