Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 20 December 2016

The final Sunday of 2016 saw the Minis away at both Southport and Tarleton, with the Junior sides involved in Lancashire Cup action.

The Under 6s had a Festive training session this week, both coaches and players! A superb focused training session to end the year. U6s also sang Happy Birthday to Karl (one of the coaches), Roll on 2017.

The Under 7s also had a fantastic finish to 2016 visiting Southport. Ruckley was there and with 60 minutes of matches, 15 Hoppers U7 Champions battled valiantly against 25 Southport Super Stars! Southport even had a dinosaur!! Happy Christmas to all and may 2017 be a great year for everyone.

The Under 8s had split the squad for the two away fixtures. 8 solitary figures appeared at Southport so the 20 plus strong home squad gifted Hoppers some of their talent. Our eight held their own. In attack Hoppers were fantastic with straight forceful running and support play. Defensively Hoppers were slow in starting but the tags started to come, forcing a couple of turnovers. Great effort all round.

The Under 13s lost away at Liverpool Collegiate 35*-5 in the Cup but put in a massive effort with some great play, the large pitch took its toll in the end on Hoppers but plenty of positives to take from the performance.

The Under 15s suffered defeat in the Cup 40*-10 at home to Warrington. In an entertaining game, Hoppers conceded too much turn-over ball and didn’t quite have a cutting edge in attack to break the Warrington line.

The Under 16s came away from Sefton with a Cup win, it seemed like Pantomime season with the game on – off – on, but eventually Hoppers were comfortable in victory.
