Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 08 February 2017

The AGP looked packed out on Sunday as both the Minis and Juniors entertained Kirkby Lonsdale on Sunday

The Under 7s had a superb turnout from both teams, each fielding 16 players and had four games running simultaneously. All teams played four games, each testing and developing the players skill. As expected the opposition displayed great discipline and were worthy opponents. Despite their skill, Hoppers recent defence line drills were strongly evident, making it hard for Kirkby Lonsdale to score the points. Well done to all who took part and especially Oliver Pagnillo who took ‘player of the week’.

The Under 8’s had a strong turn out for our first games on the AGP. After a slow start all teams up their ante especially in attacking with strong straight running and great support play and off loads. Kirkby were good in defence but struggled to get 6th tag turnover due to Hoppers combinations of support and passing before getting tagged.

The Under 15s won 24-10 away at Kirkby Lonsdale, while the Under 16s lost 7-3 at home to Kirkby Lonsdale, Hoppers played well, first up tackling was good for once but just lacked a cutting edge.  A well contested game that finished up a bit niggly.

The Under 15s girls teamed up with Vale of Lune for a game against Widnes, the score didn’t reflect their efforts as Hoppers/Vale had some girls playing who had only started last week! A brilliant day for them
