The weather tried it’s best to have an impact on this weekends games, however, we managed to get a full programme of games in and even accommodated a couple of away fixtures switching to Hoppers.
The Minis all entertained Waterloo, while the Junior sides faced Liverpool Collegiate or Liverpool St Helens.
The Under 16s hosted Liverpool Collegiate on the AGP in a late change to the fixture programme. With some of the Under 16s away on Lancashire duty, Hoppers just shading the game 22-19 between two evenly matched sides in very cold and wet conditions.
The Colts beat Broughton Park 29-0 at home under testing conditions, the pitch deteriorated as the rain became heavier through the match. Hoppers were always in control of this game never letting Park settle. Great tackling and forward play kept the ball in Park’s half for most of the game, although Hoppers first try came from an interception deep in Hoppers territory. First half trys for Pass and Pomeroy enabled Hoppers to open up a lead, with Hoppers adding three more trys in the second half through Hobin, Pass and Harrison, two conversions form Hayward completed the scoring. Hoppers never let the conditions affect them and the attitude of the whole squad was spot on.
