Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 03 March 2015

A number of the Mini’s teams were away at Fleetwood this weekend.

For the Junior teams, it was Blacksticks Blue Cup Quarter final day, all four teams having qualified for the main Cup competition.

The Under 13s defeated Eccles 22-12 at home in a hard fought contest with Hoppers having to re-group and re-focus after falling behind. Two second half scores were enough to claim victory, but too many missed tackles and wayward passes made the job harder than it should have been.

The Under 14s lost 36-15 away at Manchester, the game was much closer than the score suggests. After a poor start by Hoppers going 12-0 very early on, Hoppers fought back to 12-10 and were trailing 17-15 close to the end and chasing the game when Manchester broke away from the Hoppers pressure to make the score look a bit harsh on Hoppers in a hard fought game.

The Under 15s had to overturn a 5-12 half time deficit to run out winners 41-12 away at Southport, the wind contributing to a ‘game of two halves’. The Hoppers wingers did most of the damage with a hatrick from Pass and two for Stainton with Traynor and Cadley chipping in too.

The Under 16s suffered a disappointing loss away to Warrington 30-29, ending their hopes of a second final in a row.

The semi-finals are scheduled for 15th March when the Under 13s will face Waterloo and the Under 15s will face Warrington, both games away.

There was no game for the Junior Colts again this weekend, while the Senior Colts lost out 14-0 in a tight game away at Vale of Lune.
