Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 13 October 2015

The Minis had a busy weekend with teams setting off for the Rossendale and Manchester tournaments, some to Tyldesley while the remainder stayed at home for training.

The Under 7s had two teams at Rossendale, both progressing to the knock-out stages. One team lost in the Vase quarter final while the other went all the way and won the bowl competition. All the boys were fantastic especially with their endurance and are beginning to appreciate sportsmanship and teamwork.

The Under 8s, also at Rossendale, gave more of the squad a chance to get an early game in and a number of new players experienced a tournament for the first time. Yet again the two under 8 teams put on a really good performance and on this occasion both teams progressed to the Quarter Finals. Another cracking day and everyone left with a medal and a smile.

The Under 13s came down to earth with a bump after last weeks Cup success! they lost heavily at home to Lymm – one of those days when everything seemed to go for the opposition and nothing went for Hoppers. Struggling to get and retain good possession and then often wasting it through handling errors or soft turnovers. Hoppers defended too narrow leaving a lot of room for the very quick Lymm wingers to run in a hat full of tries – Plenty to be working on!

The Under 14s had a fantastic away win 19-17 at Lymm, a great game of rugby were the whole squad played a part in a great display of defence and attack.
