Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 20 October 2015

The Minis entertained local rivals Fylde this weekend, the clubhouse was packed to the rafters after the games.

The Under 7s had a strong turn out with 26 players for their first home game of the season. Fylde came en masse also so everyone again had plenty of game time with four games running simultaneously. There were some great games with the odd side step and decent handling of the ball. Well done to all including all coaches for stepping in and helping with the referreeing.

the Under 10s had four games against Fylde with varying degrees of success. Once again the physical element of the game was met with a degree of excitement from most, with a lot of the contact, rucking and mauling being highly competitive. Passing, cohesion and communication within the team is is starting to build really well as more games are played.

The Junior teams were all in Cup action with round 2 of the Blacksticks Blue Junior Challenge cup.

The Under 13s had a great result in their second cup game away at local rivals Fylde where the lads put in a convincing team effort and ran out 29-14 winers. All the more pleasing as this is the first time they have beaten Fylde in the cup – played 2 won 2 in the cup for the Under 13s.

The Under 14s suffered a heavy defeat 5-35 at home to Heaton Moor, two cup defeats now leave the Under 14s with a challenge to qualify for the main Cup competition.

The Under 15s had a walk over as West Park were unable to raise a team in their round 2 cup game to make it two wins out of two and a good start to this years cup campaign.

The Under 16s got back to winning ways with a home win 40-32 over local rivals Fylde, in an end to end game, Hoppers out scored Fylde 6 tries to 5 to register their first win in this seasons competition.
