Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 27 October 2015

All Mini and Junior teams were away this weekend to make room for the Archery section event.

The Under 7s were able to field three squads of 6 for some eventful games at Winnington Park. Some great efforts by a number of new players to the U7s this season. There were a number of injuries but they were soon shrugged off so that the boys and girls could get back into the action. Finding space and looking for support are topics to concentrate on at next weeks training. Well done to all involved and to parents who assisted.

The Under 10s played a total of four games against Winnington Park and had a mixed bag of results and performances with 1 impressive win, two draws and a defeat. All told, all the boys put in all the effort they could and were all puffing when they came off the pitch, which is all we can ask of them.

The Under 13s were away for a three way friendly against Stockport and Macclesfield – both very good teams at this age group. Although Hoppers tried hard to put into practice what they’ve been working on in training, both Stockport and Macclesfield proved too strong and organised and Hoppers were well beaten. To their credit the Hoppers lads didn’t loose heart and kept fighting to the end.

The Under 14s won 21-5 away at Aldwinians, a good performance from the team to erase the memory of last weeks cup defeat. Today the lads showed the makings of a great team. They showed passion; They showed guts and they all enjoyed the challenge!

The Under 15s played away at Stockport, losing 45-27, Hoppers played better than the score suggests, controlling the game for sustained periods but poor tackling and 3 breakaway tries gave Stockport the advantage. The boys kept going well until the final whistle which was encouraging.
