Mini / Junior weekend round-up

Date: 17 February 2016

The weather relented for the second weekend in a row and Hoppers Minis teams travelled to Burnage, Fylde and Southport. 3 of the Junior teams were also in action:

The Under 13s enjoyed their journey down the M61 turning in a try fest performance to win away at Eccles. With only just enough players due to injuries and half term holidays, Hoppers started with great intensity and purpose and immediately took control using the forwards to settle early nerves by keeping the ball in tight, then the backs were unleashed, Eccles having no answer to either Hoppers forwards or backs.

The Under 14s beat Littleborough 27-7 at home. Hoppers were always in control of the game against a determined and game Littleborough side.  The pitch, heavy in places, hindered classic handling moves but Hoppers scored some good tries.

The Under 15s lost 27-10 at home to Fylde in a Lancs Cup play-off match. The game was closer than the score suggests with Fylde scoring first just before half-time with a break away try. Hoppers enjoyed a lot of territory and possession but did not turn this into points. Late second half tries gave Fylde the win but this was generally a good performance by Hoppers. Hoppers will now play in the Plate competition and face an away tie against Rochdale.
