The Mini/Junior Open Day at the weekend was blessed with fine weather and attracted a number of new players to the club. Hopefully their experience on Sunday and the free food was enough to convince them to return next weekend and sign up to become a Hopper.
The Lancashire Junior Challenge Cup pool rounds started early this year with 3 of our teams in action.
The Under 13s faced a tough opener away at Vale losing out 0-30* to a strong Vale side, while the Under 14s also lost 7-17 away to Sefton in Pool A, a disappointing start to the cup campaign for last years finalists but still plenty of games left in the pool stages.
The Under 15s had a great win 30*-0 away to Vale of Lune, dominating their opponents in all areas of play.
The Colts lost an entertaining game 17-29 at home to Stoke. Hoppers started slowly and conceded an early 12 point lead but came back strongly, never quite managing to pull back the difference though. Hoppers points came from tries by Pearson, Walker and Elliot and a conversion from Townsend. Overall a good performance but a disappointing result.
