Mini / Junior Weekend Round-up

Date: 06 October 2016

The Minis fixtures started this weekend with teams visiting Fylde and the Manchester Festival.

The Under 7s had a wonderful experience at Manchester Festival. A squad of 14 players had fun playing tag all day in the sunshine.

The Under 8s squad of 12 enjoyed a long but enjoyable day at Manchester Festival. All players embracing the new rule of six tag turnover which allowed us to monopolise play with great defensive work and some great individual and team tries.

The remainder of the Under 8s travelled to Fylde, to ensure all players were playing all of the time we had volunteers from Hoppers combining with Fylde to make 4 teams overall.  Each team had 3 matches each and pleased to say that the Hoppers teams were very strong and displayed great teamwork, both in attack and straight line defence. Everyone enjoyed themselves with a nice note from the Fylde coach to say Hoppers players were a credit to the coaches and club.

The Under 15s beat Bolton at home 44*-14.  Hoppers never let Bolton settle and scored a number of good tries.

The Colts visited Ormskirk and were trailing 27-15 when the game was abandoned due to a neck injury to an Ormskirk player (happy to report player is OK).  Hoppers scored tries through Hill and Norrington with a conversion and penalty from Townsend.
