Mainly a training weekend for most of the Minis, although the Under 11s and 12s had last minute home fixtures against Ormskirk. The Junior sides all had Junior Challenge Cup games.
The Under 14s travelled to Bury for their Junior Challenge game. On a crisp morning Hoppers Under 14s played exceptionally well as a team and created numerous scoring opportunities to win the game 0-30* followed by a development game. The work done on strength and conditioning over the past few weeks seemed to have made some difference to the team.
The Under 16s faced a home tie against Wigan in the Junior Challenge Round 3. Hoppers played some good running rugby to register a 30*-0 win over a dogged Wigan side, Hoppers always had too much pace and power using this to great effect down both wings.
The Colts suffered a heavy defeat at home to Rossendale. No lack of effort again by the Colts but Rossendale’s scrum was too powerful for Hoppers to handle leaving Hoppers always on the back foot and starved of ball. A couple of injuries also left Hoppers struggling at the end to contain the opposition.
