PGRFC Sign England Counties U18 Captain Stott

PGRFC have moved to add to their exciting group of talented youngsters with the signing of England Counties U18 Captain and Centre, Sam Stott.

Stott, joins the club straight from school having been captain of Lancaster RGS 1st XV last season. Whilst still at LRGS he made several appearances for the Vale of Lune club where he has also played as a youngster.

He has represented Lancashire at various age groups and last season represented the North U18 as part of the England Counties selection process. Having impressed during the trial process, he was not only selected in the England Counties U18 squad to tour to Ireland in May 2017 but also to lead the tour as captain. He played and impressed in both Test matches alongside fellow Hoppers squad members Jack Granby and Connor Johnson.

Sam comes from a fine rugby pedigree. His father Phil played Rugby League for Wigan RLFC and Barrow RLFC whilst his sister Sally has represented the England Ladies U20’s side and has her sights set on playing for the full England Ladies XV.

Speaking on his move to Lightfoot Green, Sam said “I’m excited to be joining Hoppers and looking forward to working with the coaches and players to not only develop my game but also to have a successful season”.

Head Coach Paul Arnold said “I am really pleased that Sam has committed himself to Hoppers. He’s a talented young man with a big future ahead of him. I’m really looking forward to watching him develop this season. He sets high standards for himself and that fits perfectly with the culture we are trying to instil into the squad for the upcoming season”.
