Physical, Emotional & Mental Health Wellbeing

Date: 20 March 2020

Dear Club Secretaries

Given these trying times for our clubs, players and their families Lancashire County RFU would like to bring forward their Emotional & Mental Health wellbeing programme – “The Cauliflower Ear” & remind clubs to promote the RFU Activate programme at player level

We had intended to introduce The Cauliflower Ear campaign at the beginning of the 2020/21 season but feel that in the current climate there may be a number of Players, Officials & their families who may need support during these unprecedented times.

The Cauliflower Ear is a rugby club based campaign, created and funded by Lancashire County RFU aimed at increasing awareness of mental and emotional wellbeing within clubs and providing counselling support to those who need it. During this enforced period of downtime & potential isolation we realise that people will be under more stress than normal and we wanted to highlight this services that the County has put in place.

Acorn Emotional Wellbeing is an independent counselling service who have partnered with the county to provide professional counselling services to members of Lancashire RFU constituent cubs.

So please cascade to all your club members the availability of this service if they feel like they need emotional or mental health support.

Acorn can be called in confidence on 07517122768, alternatively they can be reached by email at counselling@acornwellbeing.com

As well as mental health support we would like you to cascade to players and coaches the RFU Activate Programme. Even though clubs should not be training together at this time we would like to use this period to educate coaches and players about the programme so players could potentially build some of the activities into their own personal training programmes and become more aware of the programme for when we can commence playing again.

All the relevant information can be found at

Thank you for your support during these difficult times.

Regards

Gary Morgan
